The Vulkaneifel Nature and Geopark is a region full of natural experiences and largely untouched. This is not always a problem for people with disabilities. To protect nature and the environment, we are working to further improve accessibility step by step. And so there are already barrier-free or barrier-free paths, paths and places. As a model region in the “Tourism for All” project, we can hope that an unlimited natural experience will be possible for even more people in the future. Rollstuhlfahrer am Schalkenmehrener Maar

Circular Trail Schalkenmehren

This manageable asphalted circular route around the Schalkenmehrener Maar is ideal for families with children and people with limited mobility. With a length of around 3 km, the path is not too long even for disabled or elderly people. There is always the possibility of turning back if the strength dwindles. The circular route starts at a barrier-free parking lot directly at the Tourist Information.

Niederburg Manderscheid

The city of Manderscheid plans to add value to the Niederburg by creating extensive accessibility. The aim is to create a completely barrier-free service chain for all target groups. For cognitively impaired and visually impaired people, the installation of a multilingual listening tour app, the installation of a tactile model of the castle complex and the use as a green classroom are planned. All signs are also designed in simple language.

Connecting Tunnel Ulmen

In the construction phase: The 124 meter long connecting tunnel between Jungferweiher and Ulmener Maar will be opened to the public in 2023 - and implemented as a barrier-free project.
