The Association of German Nature Parks (VDN) has been the umbrella organisation for nature parks in Germany since 1963. It is made up of responsible professionals actively working with skill and dedication in nature parks across Germany. The members are made up of the bodies that run the nature parks (associations, unions, administrative bodies).

Nature parks form some of the most beautiful and valuable landscapes in Germany.

The VDN’s activities are guided by one main principle: Nature and the countryside can only be protected and preserved with the help of people!

The VDN support its members in establishing the nature parks and developing them into the most beautiful countryside possible. Furthermore, it promotes the exchange of experience and cooperation between the nature parks in Germany and Europe.

<p">Another of the VDN’s roles is to make the public aware of the nature parks’ work and achievements. The VDN also represents nature parks’ interests at a political level. By working with partners from conservation, tourism, regional development, environmental education and business, the VDN contributes to the support of nature parks via all those involved (website for Assocation of German Nature Parks).

The VDN is one of the founding members of the EUROPARC Federation, the umbrella organisation for Europe’s conservation areas (www.europarc.org).
